Cut lacquer masters featuring unique live music recordings – Burmester X Mastercut presents PURE SOUND

Burmester creates emotional sonic experiences with true dedication. Every audio component from the Berlin-based manufacture stands for outstanding sound and superlative manufacturing quality. Now, the company unveils its latest collaborative project named PURE SOUND. The plan was developed in collaboration with Mastercut, a project by Supersense and Florian “Doc” Kaps, the CEO of Supersense.

Guided by an unwavering passion for music and exquisite craftsmanship, PURE SOUND celebrates authentic, unadulterated sound – in essence, the vibrancy of live music. The project focuses on creating musical experiences during recording sessions and preserving them live on lacquers. The results are direct recordings that preserve a unique musical moment, making it possible to ‘relive’ the experience in subsequent listening. In the heart of Vienna, a maximum of 20 specially invited guests can attend these sessions.

Recording Session

In a Venetian ‘palazzo’, every tone and emotional nuance arising from a live performance before a select audience is meticulously recorded in private recording sessions. What sets PURE SOUND apart is the omittance of any post-recording processing. The performance is captured on tape and then directly cut onto a lacquer-coated disc. This process creates ‘lacquers’ that preserve a unique musical moment and offer an authentic listening experience. Each record represents an individual artwork a containing a genuine live performance.

Listening Session

During the subsequent listening sessions, the authenticity of each musical element takes center stage. In an intimate setting, guests and artists enjoy the newly cut recording together. Artists can experience their live performance from a different perspective by taking on the role of listeners. It’s an opportunity to experience music in its purest form and grasp the emotional nuances of each recording.

The listening session provides insight into the world of high-quality sound reproduction through a full Burmester system while demonstrating the unparalleled quality of lacquer masters.

Acquiring Lacquer Masters

Selected direct recordings of live performances are available to own.
