The goal of the High-End 4D Surround Sound System by Burmester and Mercedes-Benz was to personalize the sound in the automobile to the maximum and to make it a true experience. That's why we set out to look beyond the sense of hearing and integrate new levels into the world of experience of those who hear. This innovation project has now been realized in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class released in 2020.

Burmester High End 4D Surround Sound System
Experience sound throughout the body
Since the beginning of our partnership with the automotive sector, our goal has been to create sound solutions that become an essential part of the luxury experience. The Burmester High-End 4D Surround Sound System for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is another jointly achieved milestone on this journey. Functionally, the High-End 4D Surround Sound System enhances the previous system by incorporating structure-borne sound transducers, so-called exciters, into the seat. This specially developed solution makes it possible to perceive the rhythms of the music not only through the ears, but through the entire body, which represents a completely new sound experience in the automobile.
The music experience, which is now also transmitted to the body in a tangible way, is additionally enhanced by the personalization function. Freely adjustable parameters can be used to create a sound profile adapted to the user's own preferences. Subsequently, 31 high-performance loudspeakers and eight exciters with 1,750 watts of sine wave power provide the all-encompassing sound experience.
Surround speakers integrated into the front seats optimize the surround sound for the driver and front passenger. Clear voice reproduction during phone calls also benefits from these speakers positioned closer to the ear. Visually, emphasis has been placed on creating a fully integrated experience, where the design of the system blends seamlessly with the vehicle's interior and its UX.

Burmester 3D Surround Sound System
The Burmester 3D Surround Sound System with its 15 speakers and 710 watts of system power is the perfect introduction to the world of great sound experiences. Burmester now also offers immersive 3D sound. The particularly intensive and perfect performance supports the floating feeling in the luxury sedan. This results in no small part from the fully active approach of the system.
The Burmester 3D Surround Sound System also offers the exclusive personalization function, which goes beyond the usual pre-settings to allow sound reproduction that is completely tailored to individual preferences.
