“The optimum in sound has been achieved when you don’t think about it any more“, said Dieter Burmester. And because the engineer and musician took the basic concept of his company seriously, he set himself again the same high goal for the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class as with his debut in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class: an unmistakable and outstanding sound experience.
The optional Burmester Surround-Soundsystem offers music lovers an acoustical experience which has no equal in the middle class premium segment. Due to its 13 heavy-duty loudspeakers, frontbass technology and a 9-channel DSP amplifier with 590 watts of total output power, the sound system, which has been perfectly finetuned to the car, delivers first-class Burmester "feelgood sound".
If desired, the impressive listening experience can be further enhanced. For instance, the switchable surround function generates a virtual omnidirectional sound field. The Front/All/Rear function allows to adjust the sound specifically for the front, the rear or all seats. A sophisticated noise compensation (VNC) makes sure that the sound is preserved with driving noises present to guarantee the best possible musical enjoyment – on the highway or in the city traffic. The purposeful use of analogue crossovers in the mid- and high-frequency range provides an unusually expressive, natural and spatial sound.
